Description

The Speculative Ecology and Fauna of Minegarde, Entry 1.

The following are advanced archosaurs, similar to dinosaurs, categorized under the Guild classification of 'Brute Wyvern'.

The following is an overview of the first chapter.

1. Coronasaurus fictilius (Earthen Crown Reptile), Common Sand Barroth. Medium sized, bipedal theropods. Subsist on large arthropods, (Such as Altaroth and Bnahabra). Will cake itself in mud using the scoop and bowl like scutes, scales, and carapaces* along its spine. Nostrils located at the top of its head allows for complete submersion in desert oasis bogs and marshes, likely to escape heat. Lobes on the sides of its feet used to distribute weight over mud.

2. Mentumosaurus ingentem (Massive Chin Reptile), Common Uragaan. Large bipedal genasaurs. Subsist on volcanic plant-life and a noted geovore (Capable of eating various ores and minerals if necessary.) Posses 4 rows of spike-like plates running down its spine. It sports two sets of horns roughly over its eyes, which merge into its back plates deceptively well. The most prominent feature of and Uraggan, Common or 'Steel', are its 'chins' or rather a heavily plated rhamphotheca, which it uses to break apart both soil and rock to reach food. It affixes ores and stone along its underside for both decorative and defensive purposes. However the most intriguing ability it posses, is the ability to curl up into a ball; tucking its head into their body, and grabbing its tail, then rolling away from would be predators or threats. This accounts for the extreme smoothness on top of its back plates, as most Uragaan are born bristling with back plates much more similar to spikes than plates. Uragaan also have large, paddle like clubs on the ends of their tails, however covered by plates and scutes, linking them to the Duramboros.

3. Caudasaurus sphaera (Spherical Tail Reptile), Common Duramboros. Large bipedal genasaurs. Subsist on arboreal vegetation. Has armored plates covering the top portion of its body. The Bottom half is covered in dense, quill-like proto-feathers. It sports two 'ram' like horns above its eyes. It also has two armored humps atop its back, the function of which is still unclear. Duramboros also have relatively stiff tails and large spherical clubs on the end of them. These clubs are used for defensive purposes and are covered with axe-like scutes.

*Carapaces found on 'wyverns' are normal formed from layers of scales and scutes, on top of larger bone plates.
